In 2015, we had a plan. A plan that would change the way airline employees travel.
Airline employees like ourselves have a unique benefit: they can travel with their and many other airlines for fixed, low rates. There is a catch though: having a ticket doesn't grant them the rights to get on board. If the plane is fully booked, they won't be accepted on board. Planes get overbooked all the time, so it's important to know how many seats are available on each flight that one could take. StaffTraveler was created because we wanted accurate load information for the flights we wished to take. There were a few sites online to help us, but none of them seemed to do the trick. They were either expensive, cluttered, inaccurate or just plain didn’t work. We wanted to change this and build a worldwide community of airline employees helping each other getting accurate loads, quickly and reliably.
Instead of asking people to fund our ambition, we started building ourselves. In the summer of 2016 we launched StaffTraveler. It quickly became apparent that we were onto something. People from all over the world started joining StaffTraveler. By now, we have members from every airline in the world. From the moment we launched, we got a steady revenue stream.
We are growing way faster then we ever expected. To keep up with our growth, we'll need to make things scale better. We need a specialised development team that is going to bring StaffTraveler to the next level. After re-doing our web and native mobile apps and building a new backend from the ground up, we are ready to onboard the other 8.658.327 active airline employees out there.
